Keynote: Eliza Steinbock
Die erste Keynote im Rahmen der diesjährigen ÖGGF Tagung findet am 29.09.2022 von 16:30-18:00 statt und wird von Eliza Steinbock gehalten, derzeit Außerordentliche* Professor*in für Gender- und Diversitätsstudien an der Fakultät für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaftender Universität Maastricht und Direktor*in des Zentrums für Gender undDiversität. In xierem Vortrag „Seeking Affective Justice in Trans MediaObjects: Archival Activations and Re-enactment as Political Redress“ spricht xier über die Stigmatisierung von Transgender-Personen inhistorischen Dokumentationen. Diese stützen sich großteils auf unvollständige medizinische und juristische Archive, und erzählen gerade nicht Geschichten über trans* Menschen innerhalb ihrer sozialen Welten und von ihren Gefühlen. Anhand zweier Dokumentarfilme, zum einen Framing Agnes (Regie: Chase Joynt, 2022) und zum anderen Happy Birthday, Marsha! (Regie: Tourmaline und Sasha Wortzel, 2018) zeigt Steinbock Möglichkeiten auf, die kulturelle Amnesie in Bezug auf transsexuelle Menschen zu überwinden.

The first keynote within this year’s ÖGGF conference will take place on 09/29/2022 from 16:30-18:00 and will be given by ElizaSteinbock, Associate Professor of Gender and Diversity Studies at the Faculty of Arts and SocialSciences, Maastricht University and Director of the Center for Gender and Diversity. In their talkSeeking Affective Justice in Trans Media Objects: Archival Activations and Re-enactment as PoliticalRedress, they talk about the stigma-infused historical documentation of transgender persons. Theselargely rely on incomplete medical and legal archives rather than telling stories about trans peoplewithin their social worlds and feelings.By making two documentaries, one Framing Agnes (directed by Chase Joynt, 2022) and the other HappyBirthday, Marsha! (Dir. Tourmaline and Sasha Wortzel, 2018), they will attempt to highlight ways in which cultural amnesia regarding transgender people can be overcome.
Keynote: Del LaGrace Volcano
Am 30.09.2022 stellt Del LaGrace Volcano in der Keynote mit dem TitelINTER*me: VISCERAL PLEASURE, POLITICAL PROVOCATION xiere Arbeit zumThema BoDieS tHaT QweeR in einer künstlerischen Performance vor, diexiere Fotografieserie mit einem gleichnamigen Gedicht begleitet. Die Performance thematisiert und kritisiert die soziostrukturell und politisch vorgegebenen Denkweisen über und Maßstäbe an queere Körper,während sie gleichzeitig jene, die sich als queer identifizieren herausfordert, wenn sie dazu auffordert, sich den soziokulturellen Ansprüchen weiterhin entgegenzusetzen. Auf einer eher subtileren Ebene fordern Del LaGrace auch die Allgemeinheit dazu auf, diese Körper zu akzeptieren und zu lieben. So lädt Del LaGrace auf xiere vorzüglich provokante Art dazu ein, sich mit der Thematik des Widerstands bezüglich queerer Körper zu befassen. Volcano erwarb 1992 einen MA in Fotografic Studies an der Universität von Derby, Großbritannien, nachdem xier von1979-81 am San Francisco Art Institute Fotografie studiert hatte. Xier gilt als ein*er der Begründer*innen queerer LGBTQI-Kultur. In their keynote on Sept. 30, 2022, titled INTER*me: VISCERAL PLEASURE, POLITICAL PROVOCATION, presenter Del LaGrace Volcano will introduce their work on the subject of BoDieS tHaT QweeR in an artistic performance by accompanying their series of photographs with a poem of the same name. The focus of this performance is to address and criticize the sociostructural as well as politically predetermined ways of thinking about and standards for queer bodies, and at the same time to issue a challenge to those who identify as queer by continuing to oppose the sociocultural claims. On a more subtle level, Del LaGrace also challenge the general public to accept and love these bodies. Thus, in their superbly provocative way, Del LaGrace invite us to engage with the issue of resistance regarding queer bodies.Volcano earned an MA in Photographic Studies at University of Derby, UK in 1992 after studying photography at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1979-81.
