Dr. Martin Stempfhuber is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Julius-Maximilians-University in Würzburg. Before teaching and researching at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, the Paris Lodron Universität in Salzburg, and the University in Hamburg, he studied sociology and American Studies in Munich and Madison, Wisc. Together with Prof. Dr. Elke Wagner, he led the research project “Öffentlichkeit und Privatheit 2.0. Mediale Publika in Social Network Sites,” sponsored by the DFG (German Research Foundation). Currently his research focusses on questions of privacy and publicity in new media ecologies and theoretical questions concerning the sociological and interdisciplinary concepts of differences and identities.
