Forschungsinteresse
Ich arbeite an verschiedenen Bereichen der Evolutionsbiologie, Naturschutzbiologie und Ökologie an Wirbellosen (z.B. an Schmetterlingen, Käfern und Skorpionen) sowie Wirbeltieren (hauptsächlich an Vogelarten). Meine Forschung konzentriert sich auf:
- den biologischen Wert bestehender Populationen (Reliktarten)
- Nordafrika als Artbildungszentrum und Refugium thermophiler Arten
- Biodiversitäts-Hotspots im globalen Wandel
- Evolutionsprozesse in ostafrikanischen Gebirgswäldern, einschließlich der Auswirkungen der jüngsten Lebensraumzerstörung auf diese Ökosysteme
Mein Hauptinteresse besteht darin, verschiedene Forschungsaspekte (interdisziplinäre Ansätze aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Bereichen) zusammenzuführen, die mit einer Vielzahl von Methoden analysiert werden:
- Molekulargenetik (Alloenzyme Elektrophorese, Mikrosatelliten, AFLPs, DNA-Sequenzierung, Einzelnukleotid-Polymorphismen)
- Ökologische Analysen (Analysen geschachtelter Artengemeinschaften, Markierungs- Wiederfang Experimente)

- Ökologische Modellierung
Die zentrale Frage ist, wie intraspezifische Charaktere (wie Morphologie, Moleküle und Verhalten) von vergangenen und jüngsten Umweltbedingungen beeinflusst werden.
