Interreligious Studies

“Interreligious Studies” addresses religious, social, and intercultural aspects of interreligious competence. With the Certificate, students gain knowledge and competence about our culturally and religiously pluralistic world. Topic areas such as peaceful co-existence, understanding of interfaith learning, religious practices and rituals are covered. As a cultural studies course, the program has an interdisciplinary approach and covers social sciences, theology, religious studies, intercultural education, and internships in various religious traditions and interfaith groups.

Target group

The university course is aimed at postgraduate students who wish to further their education in the field of interreligious encounter and religious and cultural studies, as well as employees in the educational and agogic, ecclesiastical, religious, counseling, political, economic and specialized professional fields of the intercultural field, and people who wish to study out of purely personal interest. The university course addresses people who want to study in depth the fundamentals and practical fields of encounter and dialogue between religions in terms of religious, cultural and human sciences, methodologically, personally and in a course community.

Contents

The religions of the world in their interactions in interreligious dialogue. Historical and systematic foundations of the dialogue of religions. Dialogue practice forms, interreligious pedagogy, religious studies analysis and possibilities of applied religious studies in interreligious dialogue.
