Lena Ramstetter is a Senior Scientist at the Department of Political Science for the Chair of Gender & Politics, Diversity & Equality. Funded by the Land Salzburg, she supports Prof.in Zoe Lefkofridi in managing ongoing research projects, coordinating and implementing activities of the Chair (e.g., DSP Gendered Body Politics, Study Supplement Gender, Diversity, and Equality), and acquiring third-party funding. She is particularly interested in exploring the psycho-emotional foundations of equality and contributes to establishing an organizational culture that cherishes diversity.  

In her doctoral dissertation, Ramstetter worked at the intersection of politics and psychology, approaching the intertwined challenge of affective polarization and climate change from two angles: the elite- and the citizen-level. Zeroing in on individual attitudes of citizens, she traced the effects of different meditation treatments on pro-environmentalism and resentment toward people holding diverging opinions on climate change. Shifting focus to elite-level, Ramstetter further explored whether gender exerts a systematic effect on pro- environmental behavior in parliament. Her work has appeared in Environmental Politics, Government and Opposition, Frontiers in Political Science, and iScience.  

Ramstetter previously taught Introduction to Comparative Politics, Methods of Social Sciene Research, and Political Psychology courses at the Universities of Innsbruck and Salzburg.
