The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces is seeking to fill the position of research and teaching assistant position in accordance with §26 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Universities.(B1 on the salary schedule; the monthly minimum gross salary for this position is €2.786,10 (14 payments per year) and can increase based on relevant prior experience or service.)

Responsibilities:
- Basic and applied research in the field of probability theory and statistics (=stochastics);
- administrative tasks;
- independent research activity (basic and applied), including the writing and publishing of a dissertation;
- in principle as of the second year teaching in mathematics/data science 2 semester hours per week.
- optional extension to 40 weekly hours in case of active contribution in applied projects of the IDA Lab Salzburg.
Essential criteria:
- Masters degree in mathematics, statistics or data science;
- commencement of the relevant doctoral programme at the University of Salzburg.
Desirable criteria:
- Master thesis in stochastics;
- solid background in at least one of the following three fields:
- nonparametric statistics;
- dependence modeling
- statistical learning
- coding experience in the software R;
- proficiency in English, written and spoken.
Desired personal attributes:
- Independent, meticulous, and team-oriented, openness to interdisciplinary projects. Social skills (motivation, communication, creativity, reliability).
