Markus Brenn has been a research assistant and PhD Fellow at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg since the summer semester 2024. For his dissertation project, he is researching the production, distribution and consumption of podcasts as well as their socio-technical conditions and consequences.
He studied sociology with sub-majors in philosophy and modern German literature at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) from 2013 to 2019.
After his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the LMU in the winter semester 2019/2020 at the Chair of General Sociology and Social Theory. From 2020 to 2024, he worked at the Institute for Social Work and Social Pedagogy in Frankfurt am Main. As a research assistant, he was part of a team in the field of democracy promotion, which scientifically supported and evaluated the municipal democracy promotion of the federal program “Demokratie Leben!” in the funding period from 2020 to 2024.
