General information on performance-based scholarships

Performance-based scholarships: Call for applications in the newsletter no. 67 of 01 August 2024 (German only)

Legal basis: §§ 2 et seq. (group of beneficiaries), § 18 et seq. (duration of entitlement, reasons for extension) and §§ 57 et seq. (performance-based scholarships) of the Study Assistance Act as amended

Performance-based scholarships are used to recognize outstanding academic achievements that have been completed within a specified period of time. The announcement of the performance-based scholarships is made once a year in the newsletter of the University of Salzburg. This announcement can be viewed on this homepage.

In addition to the general requirements such as compliance with the standard duration of study (in a course of study or in a section of study) and citizenship or equality (see below), the special tender criteria formulated in the announcement must be met. These specify the examination certificates that are usually to be provided in an academic year. On this homepage you will find a regular overview of the examination certificates required in an academic year, divided by field of study and section of study.

The standard duration of study is always calculated according to the standard duration of study provided for in a period of study (in the Bachelor’s programme, Master’s programme and doctoral programme in the entire degree programme) in addition to one tolerance semester. According to § 19 StudFG, an extension of the entitlement period can be applied for for important reasons if appropriate evidence is provided.

Students with Austrian citizenship as well as equivalent persons and stateless persons according to § 4 StudFG are eligible.

A performance-based scholarship may not be less than € 750 and may not exceed € 1,500. It is NOT a regular payout, the amount, if granted, will be paid out once.

The application must be submitted to the faculty office of the DAS faculty by October 31, 2024. The required documents can be found on the following form:

The award is made within the framework of the private sector administration. Even if all the requirements are met, there is no legal entitlement to the award of a performance-based scholarship.

The award is made by the dean of the DAS faculty after consultation with the advisory board and the student representatives.

The notification of the decision is always made in writing.
