Research Group Discrete Mathematics
The research group “Discrete Mathematics” focuses on topics in algebra, combinatorics and number theory. This includes the areas
- Diophantine equations and Diophantine geometry (C. Fuchs, T. Hilgart, I. Vukusic, V. Ziegler),
- Analytic combinatorics (D. Krenn) and
- Monte Carlo- and Quasi-Monte Carlo-methods (W. Schmid).
More detailed information can be found on the personal web pages of the members of the group and in the sections on publications and research projects.
The research group is well-connected with colleagues from Graz, Klagenfurt, Leoben, Linz and Vienna. International contacts include cooperation partners from Croatia (University of Zagreb, Pula, Split), Hungary (Debrecen), Italy (Pisa, Udine) and Switzerland (ETH and University of Zurich) among others.
The group covers a significant number of courses in the study programs of the department. Moreover, we try to offer interesting special courses related to our areas of research so that students can get deeper knowledge in various areas of discrete mathematics and are able to write competitive bachelor, diploma, master, and PhD theses. More information can be found in the relevant section on this web page.
