Vision

The enzyme legumain exists in different forms corresponding to a newborn, a child and an adult stage. Normally, these forms of legumain are found in the endo-lysosome of our cells. Mainly under pathophysiological conditions, legumain has been found mislocalized in the cytosol, nucleus or extracellularly. Although the mislocalization of legumain has been associated with serious diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, its function in these atypical locations is still not understood. In this project, we aim to investigate the molecular function of different forms of mislocalized legumain.
