Ali Isgandarov is a PhD fellow at the Department of Political Science at the University of Salzburg since October 2022. He completed his bachelor’s degree in International Studies at ADA University in Baku, including a semester abroad at the University of Tartu. He holds an MA degree in International Relations from Central European University with a focus on International Political Economy. He wrote his Master’s thesis on the EU’s latent geoeconomic strategies in external energy policy, titled “Geoeconomics of Energy Trade by the European Union: the case of the Southern Gas Corridor”. His main research interest lies at the intersection of international trade and security. He is currently involved in the FWF project “Security Externalities of Trade”.
