What will I learn?
The interdisciplinary Master’s programme Language – Business – Culture (German abbreviation: SWK) provides students with deepened, interconnected competences in cultural studies and business administration. It offers a research-based education that combines business expertise with intercultural and transcultural competences which enable students to operate successfully in different linguistic, cultural and business settings in an international context, in a critical and responsible manner and at a high, academically sound level of reflection. The Master’s programme Language – Business Administration – Culture consists of a philological-cultural studies component, for which a Romance or Slavic language of concentration is chosen, a business administration component and an interdisciplinary component. The language of concentration can be French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Czech. In business administration, specialisation is possible in "Finance and Banking", "Accounting and Sustainability", "Accounting and Taxation" or "Management and Digital Transformation".

The Salzburg Master’s programme Language – Business – Culture is one of a kind in Austria. It deepens knowledge and competences in the linguistic-cultural field, in business administration, and combines these competences in an innovative way, thus creating added value. During a semester abroad, in addition to a greater immersion in their chosen language and cultural area, students expand their knowledge in business administration in their chosen foreign language. The Language – Business Administration – Culture Master’s programme at the PLUS (Paris Lodron University of Salzburg) is stimulating and varied, both in terms of the content taught and the study environment. Furthermore, students benefit linguistically and culturally through a semester abroad at one of the many partner universities in Brazil, France, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic and hopefully soon again in Russia or Russian-speaking Ukraine.

Which career opportunities do I have?
As the Master’s programme combines a high degree of sensitivity and the ability to reflect on intercultural and transcultural processes, as these increasingly characterise global business life, with business management competences at the Master’s level, it qualifies graduates for a wide range of management functions in both the private and public business world (e.g. in internationally active companies, management consultancy, tax consultancy and auditing, finance and banking, cultural management, in international organisations, in media and public relations work and in tourism), especially in connection with target language countries. Furthermore, it prepares graduates for independent academic work for university and non-university research, for which a high level of expertise in intercultural and transcultural contexts – especially, but not exclusively, in connection with business management issues – is required.
