The Herbarium SZU is an internationally recognised curated natural history collection and contains approximately 130,000 specimens of vascular plants, mosses and lichens. The collection focuses on Central Europe and Eurasian mountains. A carpological collection of native plants, a wet collection of orchids (especially Bulbophyllum), and a tissue collection (DNA bank) of alpine plant species complement the “traditional” herbarium collection. Part of the collection is digitised and accessible via GBIF.
