Supplementary Study Programmes and Specialisation Programmes
Supplementary Study Programmes and Specialisation Programmes are thematically bundled and coordinated course offerings that enable regular PLUS students to set an additional focus and acquire interdisciplinary competencies and skills in addition to or within their studies (elective courses). Completed Supplementary Study Programmes and Specialisation Programmes are confirmed with a PLUS certificate and can – depending on the provisions in the respective curriculum – be credited for the free electives.
In order to ensure that sufficient competences can be acquired in the individual subject areas, courses amounting to at least 24 or 36 ECTS credits must be completed for Supplementary Study Programmes or Specialisation Programmes. Supplementary Study Programmes and Specialisation Programmes have a modular structure: basic, advanced and, if applicable, emphasis modules of 12 ECTS credits each.
The following Supplementary Study Programmes (24 ECTS) and Specialisation Programmes (36 ECTS) are currently being offered:
- Applied Statistics and Data Analysis (24 I 36 ECTS)

Who is it for?
Regular PLUS students can participate in the programmes. Some programmes also may have special requirements. Please check the details on the respective programme´s website.
How can I take part?
Register for the required courses in PLUSonline:
- PLUSonline > University of Salzburg > Degree Programmes > other study > Fakultätsübergreifende Lehre
In some cases, it is advisable to contact the persons responsible for the respective offer in advance in order to clarify any requirements or restrictions on participation of the corresponding course.
Please keep in mind that only courses that are not part of the obligatory (elective) study programme students are enrolled in can be considered for certification.
Certificate & free elective courses
Since Supplementary Studies Programmes and Specialisation Programmes can also be completed outside the free electives, degrees are confirmed with a certificate from the University of Salzburg. These certificates can be issued for basic modules (12 ECTS), Supplementary Study Programmes (24 ECTS) and Specialisation Programmes (36 ECTS).
How do I get my certificate?
Send the course certificates and the completed examination pass to the responsible person. The examination pass and the contact details can be found on the website of the respective offer.
Depending on your curriculum, the courses completed can be credited as part of the free electives. However, since not all fields of study provide for free electives or are given to a corresponding extent, it may be that additional achievements outside the curricula are necessary for the completion of a Supplementary Study Programme, which can not be fully reflected in the final diploma.
A designation/registration of elective modules (12 ECTS), Supplementary Study Programmes (24 ECTS) and Specialisation Programmes (36 ECTS) in the Bachelor’s or Master’s final diploma is possible in most fields of study. You will find specific information for this in the curriculum of your studies under the item “Free electives” or, if necessary, contact the corresponding curricular committee or the examinations office.
