Short Vita
Wassilios Baros has been Professor of Educational Research at the Department of Educational Science at Paris Lodron University Salzburg since 2017. Between 2013 and 2017, he was Professor of Education with a focus on comparative educational research at the University of Augsburg. Wassilios Baros studied educational science at the University of Ioannina (GR), peace and conflict research (1998) and mediation (2000) at the FernUniversität Hagen, and completed his doctorate (2000) at the Chair of Intercultural Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education at the University of Cologne. Between 2001 and 2003 he worked as a research assistant in a research project of the Ministry of Science and Research/for School, Youth and Children (NRW). From 2004 to 2005 he was a post-doc (DFG) in a research training group at Bielefeld University (AG 8). He was first appointed to a professorship (Lecturer) for Intercultural Education at the Faculty of Education of the Democritus University of Thrace (GR) in 2006. Between 2011 and 2013, Wassilios Baros held the professorship for Educational Science with a focus on Education and Migration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. In summer semester 2012, he was a visiting professor of education at the University of Augsburg and since 2014 he has been a part-time professor of intercultural education at the Democritus University of Thrace (GR). Since 2001, Wassilios Baros has lectured at several universities (Cologne, Siegen, Osnabrück, Hagen, Bielefeld, Ioannina, Patras, National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Passau) on topics of comparative education and migration research.
