Univ.-Prof. Dr. Simon Oertel studied Business Administration and Public Economics at the University of Applied Sciences Trier and the University of Erfurt. After graduation, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of ABWL/Organization, Leadership and Human Resource Management (Prof. Dr. Peter Walgenbach) at Friedrich Schiller University Jena (2008-2018) and at the Department of Corporate Management/Organization (Prof. Dr. Norbert Bach) at TU Ilmenau (2019-2021). After his doctorate and during the postdoctoral phase at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, research stays at WU Vienna and Stanford University followed. Since October 2021, he is head of the department of Strategic Management and Organization (SMO) at Paris Lodron University Salzburg.
Simon Oertel is a member of the Association of University Teachers of Business Administration (VHB), the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS), the Academy of Management (AoM), the American Sociological Association (ASA) and the international network New Institutionalism.
