What will I learn?
The MA course in Ancient History and Classical Studies comprises Greek history including Aegean pre- and early history (Mycenology), Roman history, and the history of the countries, peoples and cultures of Middle and Western Europe, the Middle East and Egypt in the framework of the entire history of antiquity, as well as antiquity studies of the thereby circumscribed peoples and cultures. The focus lies on both political and cultural, social, military and everyday history, including the history of mentalities. Among the department’s core competences are memory, analysis and the methodologically reflected interpretation of different types of sources, whose spectrum ranges from literary and non-literary written texts to visual art and artefacts of everyday culture.
