Focus

The supplementary study “Early Childhood Education,” offered by the Department of Educational Science – specifically for BA students in Education – has been designed by the University of Salzburg and the State of Salzburg. It provides graduates with the opportunity to be well-prepared as professionals in day care, based on the (state) legal regulations in the Salzburg Child Care Act 2007, LGBl 41 as amended, and the Day Care Ordinance LGBl No. 66/2002 as amended by LGBl No. 123/2015. Students of Education, Psychology, and Teaching receive a theoretically sound, practice-relevant specialization for this professional field. The critical shortage of suitably trained professionals, the interest of students in qualified educational work with children, the rising birth rates in Salzburg, and the increased demand for early childhood education places were decisive factors for the cooperation between the State of Salzburg and the University of Salzburg.

Target Group

The supplementary study is aimed at students of Education and Psychology (BA & MA) as well as teaching students at the University of Salzburg.Education students also have the opportunity to expand and deepen their competencies in the field of Early Childhood Education within their Bachelor’s degree program.
