Vice-Rector Prof Dr Jutta Horejs-Höck
Originally from Salzburg, Jutta Horejs-Höck attended the Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg and completed her music studies (piano) at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in 1993. She also completed a degree in biology at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. As part of her doctoral studies, Horejs-Höck conducted research at the Novartis Research Institute in Vienna on signalling pathways associated with misdirected immune reactions. Following her doctorate in 1999, she spent three years at the Novartis Research Institute to identify new molecules with therapeutic potential. This was followed by a further research stay at the renowned San Raffaele Hospital in Milan before she completed her habilitation in immunology and molecular biology in 2014.
Jutta Horejs-Höck is currently a university professor at the PLUS. She heads a research group at the Department of Biosciences and Medical Biology and has a special interest in chronic inflammatory processes and their relevance to the development of cancer. She is also active in numerous scientific organisations and was intensively involved in faculty matters as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences at the PLUS from 2015 to the end of 2023. In January 2024, she took over as interim Head of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Sustainability. Jutta Horejs-Höck was appointed to the newly elected Rectorate of the University as Vice-Rector for Research in October 2024.
