Tuition-free period

The designated study period is defined in the respective study plan (curriculum). A tolerance period of two semesters is added to this time. Diploma Studies are subdivided into stages of study, thus two additional semesters are added to each stage for the tolerance period. If you continue your studies after a break, semesters of all previous studies are counted for the study period when continuing the same program.

  • If you are enrolled for the Bachelor’s program Language-Business-Culture, the designated study period is six semesters plus two additional semesters; i.e. in their 9th semester, EU/EEA/CH citizens have to pay tuition fees.
  • If you are enrolled for the master’s program Law and Business, the designated study period is four semesters plus two additional semesters; i.e. in their 7th semester, EU/EEA/CH citizens have to pay tuition fees.
  • If you are enrolled in a diploma study program, two additional semesters are added for each stage before you have to pay tuition fees
  • If you are enrolled in a doctoral program, the designated study period is 6 semesters plus two additional semesters; i.e. in their 9th semester, EU/EEA/CH citizens have to pay tuition fees.

Semesters, where a leave of absence has been granted, are not added to the count of the study period.

Tuition fee Amount

EU/EEA/CH citizens are exempt from paying tuition fees during the designated study period and the additional semester and have to pay only the Student’s Union fee (currently 24,70 Euros). Once this period has passed, an additional amount of 363,36 Euros tuition fee has to be paid (a total of 388,06 Euros). Students in non-degree programs always pay the full amount.

Students from non-EU/EEA countries have to pay 726,72 Euros plus the Student’s Union fee (a total of 751,42 Euros).  If an application for equivalency to EU/EEA citizens has been submitted, the amount is as described above for EU/EEA citizens. Details on this application can be found here: equivalency.

Temporary Exemption/waiver

A temporary waiver of tuition fees is granted if one of the defined conditions apply.  Once the exemption has been granted, the Student’s Union fee has to be paid. Details and information on exemptions and refund of tuition fees are listed in the Intranet. Click on the link:  Information from Admissions Office
