What will I learn?
The teacher training programme for the subject of Latin deals with Latin texts of classical antiquity, late antiquity, the middle ages and modern times. Almost all the literary genres have been created in classical antiquity (epic, drama, historiography, poetry, philosophical dialogue, satire and epigram as well as speeches and sermons, epistolary literature, etc.). They were communicated and continuously updated by the Latin tradition. Students will hone their language skills and learn techniques which shall help them to read and understand Latin texts. Thereby, they will be able to inspire their future pupils’ interest in dealing with Latin texts in a critical and reflective way, and to encourage them to reflect upon the texts’ influence on their own existence.
Which career opportunities do I have?
Occupations for graduates include library work, the publishing sector, and art and cultural mediation. Graduates are qualified to teach the subject Latin at secondary schools after graduating in the MA teacher training programme.
