Mona Röhm is a Research Assistant and Ph.D. Fellow at the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Salzburg. She completed her MA in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna in 2016. From 2017-2018 she was a research associate at the Institute of Urban and Regional Research, Austrian Academy of Sciences. In this period, she was also a lecturer for qualitative research methods. In her cumulative dissertation project “From Taboo to Talk: Unraveling the Complexities of Discussing Intimacy” she addresses the intersectionality of intimacies, migration and gender by exploring individuals´ life experiences in this regard. The aim of her research is to develop a reflexive feminist research approach for looking at intimacies in a migration context by applying research participant centered qualitative methods. The leading research question addresses the negotiation of diverse ways of thinking and living intimate relationships of Afghan migrants in Austria.
