Christopher Etter (he/him) is a research assistant and doctoral student at the University of Salzburg (Department of Sociology and Human Geography), where he also obtained his MSSc in September 2022. While studying Sociology and Psychology, he developed a strong interest in the sociology of (mental-) health, quantitative social research and welfare state research. In his dissertation project „Social Determinants of Depressiveness in cross-national Comparison: A quantitative Approach in the Context of theoretical Developments and methodological Challenges within the ‚Sociology of Mental Illness’“ he aims to integrate theories from the sociology of health, cross-national survey data and multilevel modelling to gain deeper insights into the macrosocial determinants of depressiveness while at the same time critically evaluating methodological problems and limitations of such an endeavor.
