Educational science training/school practice at a glance
In the course of your teacher training programme, you will complete a series of practical pedagogical studies. These are divided into the following parts:
Bachelor’s programme
- Pedagogical-practical studies 1: Fundamentals of the teaching profession 2: Teaching profession and teaching (10 ECTS) – The introductory internship
Module BW B 2 offers you your first contact with teaching and school in a different role. This phase is supervised by representatives of the educational sciences. In the accompanying courses, questions arising from the internship are dealt with in a research-orientated manner. The internship is not subject-specific and can take place in any type of Austrian school. - Practical pedagogical studies 2: Teaching, individualising and differentiating with expertise (10 ECTS) – The work placement
Module BW B 4 involves planning and teaching your own lessons in the chosen subjects. In addition to supervision from the educational sciences, supervision is also provided in the area of specialised didactics. The research-led and science-orientated supervision of the internships is interdisciplinary and should be seen as a network of the four pillars of teacher training. You must complete the accompanying courses together with the internships. - Practical pedagogical studies 3: Adaptive teaching, diagnosis and self-evaluation (7 ECTS) – The specialisation internship
Module BW B 5 provides for a more intensive and differentiated examination of one’s own subject teaching. At the same time, central concepts of teaching (inclusion, internal differentiation, communication skills, self-reflection, etc.) are reflected on and worked through in conjunction with the internships.
Master’s programme
Practical pedagogical studies 4: Compulsory elective module Researching, reflecting on and shaping pedagogical challenges (20 ECTS) – The Master’s internship
Module BW M 6 (PPS IV) in the Master’s degree programme provides for two variants of the internship, each totalling 20 ECTS credits, of which ONE VARIANT IS TO BE CHOSEN:
- BW M 6.1 PR Internship in various pedagogical fields and in diverse pedagogical-practical experience scenarios incl. educational science supervision. (part of the PPS) (20 ECTS)
OR - BW M 6.2.1: PR: Internship in various pedagogical fields and in diverse pedagogical-practical experience scenarios incl. educational science support. (part of the PPS) (3 ECTS)
AND - BW M 6.2.2: In-depth profession-orientated courses from the chosen subjects, educational sciences or interdisciplinary areas (9 ECTS)
AND - BW M 6.2.3. free electives (8 ECTS)
