We need you—exciting Master thesis opportunities!

In our transdisciplinary project  “AlpLakeChange”, funded by the Austrian Academy of Science, we examine changing biodiversity in high alpine lakes in the National Park Hohe Tauern, as a consequence of anthropogenic climate change. We analyze the interplay of ecological, geo(morpho)logical and societal factors.

The Sociology team contributes to a holistic understanding of changing ecosystems in the National Park, by focusing on the motivations and attitudes of National Park visitors. We use a combination of different methods: expert interviews, surveys and focus groups.

Together with colleagues from Biology and Geology, overall, AlpLakeChange aims to develop potential solutions for a more sustainable approach to these valuable ecosystems.

To this end, we are looking for students who are willing to think beyond disciplinary boundaries and contribute to the protection of alpine habitats.
