Teaching from March 2022

Summer semester in attendance with 2.5G rule!

Dear students, teachers and staff,

There is only a short break from teaching in February before we start the summer semester at the beginning of March. We hope that we will then (finally!) be able to return to normal teaching and examination modes. Even though the infection figures are still very high at the moment, we can expect a significant decline in the coming weeks. The analysis of the pandemic is also shifting from looking at incidence figures alone to examining the frequency and severity of cases. The milder course of the omicron variant and the high vaccination uptake have had a favourable influence. Once again, we appeal to you to make sure you get fully vaccinated (including the booster vaccination)!

  • As of the beginning of the summer semester, courses will once again be held in attendance. Lecture halls and seminar rooms will return to their normal occupancy numbers. Courses held exclusively online are no longer planned, but hybrid formats (e.g. integration of online elements to enhance teaching) as well as course streaming are still possible and a good idea. We ask all lecturers to make use of the advantages and possibilities that digital and hybrid teaching has to offer and to integrate them into lessons; the ZFL and the e-tutors will be happy to answer any questions or provide support. Teaching formats for each course should be updated well in advance via PLUSonline.
  • For the time being, FFP2 masks will continue to be mandatory in all university buildings and courses to protect people against infection (exceptions for staff in the workplace remain the same as before). Other hygiene measures (regular ventilation, hand disinfection) must also continue to be observed.
  • The 5G rule applies for entry into university buildings, i.e. we strongly recommend getting fully vaccinated, but valid PCR tests (currently: 72 hours from time of testing) will also be accepted.
  • Please be prepared for checks at any time! We ask students to use the Greenlight application to prove their 2.5G status. This will make checks easier, as the vaccination or PCR certificate is automatically combined with personal data stored in PLUSonline. More information can be found on our  intranet pages.

More specific information will be provided shortly before the start of the semester. We look forward to seeing you again at the University!

Kind regards,

Martin Weichbold, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs on behalf of the entire Rectorate
Laura Reppmann, Lara Simonitsch und Manuel Gruber, Chairing Team of the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) Salzburg
