*About the Project
Gender equality is an ongoing struggle, and there is still a long way to go to achieve full equality of rights and opportunities between men and women. At the same time, movements against gender equality are gaining traction globally, weakening democracies. The EU-funded Push*Back*Lash project looks at the backlash against feminism and gender equality and its impact on democracy in the EU and the UK. It examines anti-equality debates in party discourses, government agendas and social media, as well as citizens’ attitudes towards democracy and feminism. The project develops evidence-based strategies that can effectively counteract anti-gender and anti-feminist discourses.
