PLUS is host of the 19th Congress of the European Society for Photobiology.

On behalf of the president and the board of the European Society for Photobiology ( https://www.photobiology.eu) the Congress Organizing Committee cordially invites you join the 19th Congress of the ESP that will take place from August 30 to September 3, 2021. Originally planned as presential event at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg, the circumstances have forced the congress to go virtual. PD Dr. Kristjan Plaetzer from the Department of Biosciences serves as chair of the Local Organizing committee and will, together with his team, make sure the participants will be able not only to enjoy a comprehensive and exciting scientific program but also the atmosphere of Salzburg, as the opening event will be broadcasted from the ceremonial state rooms of the Salzburg Residence Palace, including classical music.

The congress welcomes 450 photobiology experts from all over the world presenting over 360 contributions in the form of plenary lectures, oral communications, and posters.

Conference topics include clinical and experimental photomedicine, phototherapy and photodiagnosis, sunscreens, SARS-CoV-2, photoageing and skin cancer, photodynamic therapy, physical and chemical photobiology, plant photobiology, artificial photosynthesis and biofuels, circadian rhythms, photoreceptors, environmental photobiology, and the influence of UV on ecosystems and, last but not least, the interaction of climate change and terrestrial solar radiation.

We are sure that this meeting will again provide a unique international forum for the dissemination of new research and technological development in the photobiological sciences. Attendees will find excellent opportunities for productive scientific discussions, exchange of new ideas and establishing new collaborations.
