PLUS Digital Dialogue: Info session on AI in teaching

The role of PLUS in the age of artificial intelligence.

Dear colleagues and students,

AI has become an integral part of university teaching and academic work. As a future-oriented university, we want to play an active role in shaping this transformation process and ensure that artificial intelligence has a designated space in our learning environment.

In this PLUS Digital Dialogue, together with IT Services and the Department of Flexible Learning, we will be presenting specific AI applications that will be available to us for teaching and training in the winter semester.

AI solutions in teaching are essentially based on two applications:

  • AcademicGPT: a token-based OpenAI/ChatGPT4 application in a protected Microsoft Azure environment, with further plug-ins (g.DALL-E, Wolfram Alpha) in a future expansion stage.
  • AI Design Assistant: for designing teaching materials, examination tasks etc. in Blackboard, also in German.

In addition, co-pilot functions and workflows for recognising AI-generated texts and theses are offered.

The existing AI Task Force is developing accompanying guidelines with recommendations that have been agreed with comparable findings at national level by the Austrian University Conference [ UNIKO] and European higher education bodies.

We would like to invite you all to familiarise yourselves with the new applications over the summer so that you can start using it in the autumn:
