Thematisiert werden sowohl Prozesse der Kolonialisierung und Dekolonialisierung, die Unabhängigkeitskriege und die Diktaturen im 20. Jahrhundert als auch die Revolution, das sozialistische Kuba, der Kalte Krieg und die Zeit nach Castro.

The 150th anniversary of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 provides an excellent occasion for taking a closer look at the question of ‘dual statehood’ in the long nineteenth century. This conference, which is dedicated to the late Prof. Fritz Fellner, seeks to provide new insights into the history of the Habsburg Monarchy as a dualist state by analysing it in comparative perspective as part of the wider phenomenon of ‘dual statehood’ and monarchical unions in modern Europe.
