“Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Academic Honors: Contemporary History and Law in Discussion”

In December 2015, the University of Salzburg renounced the honorary doctorates of Konrad Lorenz and Wolfgang Hefermehl, awarded to these two scientists in 1983. In particular, the recognition of the academic honor of the Nobel Prize winner, Konrad Lorenz, triggered a controversy in which both the legal foundations of the revocation and the Nazi past of the prominent moralist Lorenz were widely discussed in the media.
