Maria Matzner Prize for Women Goes to Verena Lorber
On 23 June, 2017, Verena Lorber received the Maria Matzner Prize for Women for her dissertation “Angeworben. GastarbeiterInnen in Österreich in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren”. The prize is awarded by the Association of Social Democratic Academics (BSA) Styria for dissertation projects with aspects of women’s policy, as well as high socio-political impact.
Arno Strohmeyer Becomes Scientific Director of the Institute for Contemporary and Contemporary History Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences
Univ. Prof. Dr. Arno Strohmeyer was appointed Scientific Director of the Institute for Modern Era and Contemporary History (INZ) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The INZ is the leading non-university institution for the historical exploration of the Habsburg monarchy and the Balkan region.
