The Centre for Geoinformatics is offering this annual forum to the worldwide geoinformatics community, bringing together English-speaking researchers and practitioners across disciplines and industries. Simultaneously, the GI_Forum connects participants into a well established co-located regional symposium – Applied Geoinformatics (AGIT) – sharing the state-of-the art AGIT-EXPO exhibit.

Die AGIT 2006 – Symposium und Fachmesse für Angewandte Geoinformatik an der Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Salzburg wurde von 5. bis 7. Juli von rund 1000 GIS ExpertInnen und Interessierten besucht, dies bestätigt den hohen Stellenwert dieser im deutschsprachigen Raum einzigartigen Kombination aus Fachausstellung und Symposium.

Auf Einladung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen und durch Vermittlung der StandortAgentur Salzburg stellte eine Delegation aus Salzburg beim Tag der Geoinformationswirtschaft in Düsseldorf den GIS-Cluster als erfolgreiches Modell für gelebte Kooperation zwischen innovativen Unternehmen der Geoinformatik-Branche einerseits und Forschungsinstitutionen anderseits vor.
