Salzburg’s church historian Prof. Dietmar W. Winkler will continue to work as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity. Pope Francis has extended the Salzburger theologian’s advisory role. Prof. Winkler was first appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. in 2008.

The Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, in cooperation with Doctors without Borders, is opening a Christian Doppler Laboratory for geospatial and earth observation based humanitarian technologies (gEOhum).The opening took place virtually on the 8th July 2020.

The project „Digital Innovation Hub West“ is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs.
In addition to public cooperation partners Austria’s universities and universities of applied sciences are also involved.
The University of Salzburg is also participating in this project, and is represented by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andreas Uhl (Department of Computer Sciences).
