The University of Salzburg sees itself as a place of civilised academic exchange and peaceful encounters between a wide variety of cultures. We cultivate this exchange with academics and students from all over the world, including Ukraine and Russia. We are deeply shocked by the events in Ukraine. The University of Salzburg vehemently condemns the Russian Federation’s unlawful attack on Ukraine, which cannot be justified in any way. The sovereignty of Ukraine and its right to self-determination are non-negotiable.

How do we explain conflicts and crises? What holds the EU together? How does politics work in other countries? Why are there tensions in society? As a modern social science, political science deals with a wide range of socially relevant questions.
