We are hiring two doctoral candidates in the research field of social stratification and analysis of social inequalities at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS).

What we offer

• Two four-year doctoral positions for a minimum monthly salary of € 2,684.10 gross (14 x per year), 30 hours/week,
• Collaboration in research projects in the field of Social Stratification and Empirical Social, Structural Analysis with a focus on at least one of the topics labour market, education, household and gender, intergenerational status transmission, poverty, social participation, international comparative research

• Opportunity to develop own thematic priorities in a new team,
• Stimulating working environment in an interdisciplinary and international department

Responsibilities

• The writing and publication of a dissertation in the research area,
• Academic support in research and teaching in the team,
• Joint publications,
• Administrative tasks, and
• Independent teaching for a total two hours a week from the third year on.

Employment requirements

• Completed diploma or master’s degree in sociology or social science subjects.
• Admission to the doctoral program at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg

Desired additional qualifications

Very good knowledge of concepts/theories of social stratification and social structural analysis and quantitative research methods; very good statistical software skills (e.g. Stata, SPSS, R); very good

English and German skills; openness to methodological developments, in particular mixed methods and interdisciplinary research

Desired personal qualities

Enjoyment of scientific work and working with students; team spirit; communication skills; flexibility; organisational talent and structured way of working.
