The “Night of Excellence” took place on November 29, 2023 in the library auditorium, where the winners of the three most important prizes awarded at PLUS were chosen. Colleagues from our department were among the winners in each category!

This year, the “Kurt Zopf Award for Scientific Publications”, endowed with 10,000 euros, is shared by three researchers, including our colleague Martin Himly (AG NF Duschl):
Mag. Dr. Martin Himly, Assoz. Univ.-Prof. PD. at the Department of Biosciences and Medical Biology. His publication in the field of allergy research, entitled “The nanotopography of SiO2 particles impacts the selectivity and 3D fold of bound allergens”, was already rated as excellent when it was first submitted to the journal and was named paper of the month (May 22) within the department.

The Excellence in Teaching Awards are aimed at teaching excellence in every respect. Our colleague Angelika Lahnsteiner (AG Risch) is one of the award winners:
Dr. in Angelika Lahnsteiner, at the Department of Biosciences and Medical Biology, was honored for the lecture “Epigenetics”. A three-unit workshop in the form of an “Escape the Seminar” concept was designed to deepen the subject matter. Crossword puzzles and other tasks were used to illustrate the connections between the individual processes in the cell.

With the Young Investigators Award, the PLUS has been honoring the best dissertation projects at the university for several years. The aim of the Young Investigators Award is to promote young researchers. This year, the prize was awarded to our colleague Sebastian Diechler (Wessler group), among others:
