Moscow Readings 2014 on Creative Industries

Moscow Readings 2014Since six years, communication scholars from all over the world gather in October in Moscow (17th to 18th 2014) for the International Media Readings. This year, the Conference was dedicated to “Creative Industries in the Reindustrializing World”.
Josef Trappel was one of the key note speakers and gave a presentation on “Industry yes – but creative? What contemporary media deliver to citizens”. Other speakers included Eli Noam (Columbia University, United States), Terry Flew (Queensland University of Technology, Australia), Francois Heinderyckx (Université Libre, Belgium), Elena Vartanova (Lomonossow University, Russia), Hannu Nieminen (University of Helsiniki, Finland), Bjorn von Rimscha (University of Zurich, Switzerland).
The overall tone of the Conference was that the creative industry, contrary to predictions and political projections, has little substance to substitute losses caused by the de-industrialization.
