Through its wide-ranged activities, the Centre fosters mutual exchange of requirements and knowledge between the scientific and the users? domain.

Our user groups range from local, federal and national governments, to the European Commission (EC) and super-national organisations as the United Nations (UN). Z_GIS provides expertise to a number of industry partners and collaborates in a range of applied projects and prototype development. We play a key role in GI-related scientific communication by organizing the annual AGIT symposium. In the year 2006, the AGIT was coupled with two international events, the  1st International Conference on Object-based Image Analysisand a special-interest-group symposium on  GI for Development.
