Prof. Dr. Poppy L. McLeod | Cornell University

12 September 2022 | Hellbrunnerstraße 34 | on site in HS 424 | online: on request | 16.00 s.t.

The talk will describe a program of research focused on group-based processes of social influence in communications about environmental sustainability. One set of studies, in collaboration with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, explores how a social identity framework can take advantage of people’s interest in birds to motivate environmentally sustainable behaviors. A second set of studies employs social norm theories of change to examine effects of conversation on people’s beliefs about climate change and support for mitigation policies.
