FR 20.3.: Gastvortrag: Morphology of insects in changing environments
Martin Štefánik ist PostDoc in der AG Habel (Evolutionary Zoology) am Fachbereich Biowissenschaften der Universität Salzburg.
Abstract:
What connects the forging success of percid fish, the problematique of thrips detection and the disappearance of whole butterfly communities?
Changes in environmental conditions that often leave a phenotypic mark on the organism that inhabits these environments. One of the methods for monitoring some of these changes and the variation within populations is to study their morphology. Using morphology of organisms can therefor give us an imprint of the past environments and may help us better understand the interaction between the environment and its inhabitants.
The presentation should serve as condensation of my previous research during my MsC. and PhD. study at Comenius University in Bratislava and Lund University in Sweden.
After the seminar (ca. 16:00 h), everybody is welcome to join us for drinks and munchies in the „coffee corner on the second floor“.
