Film Screening and Discussion “Lützerath” on Jan. 8 2025

LÜTZERATH – Together for a Good Life
Time: January 8, 2025, 1:00–3:00 PM
Location: HS 381, Rudolfskai 42
With: Carmen Eckhardt (Director & Producer)

The film tells the story of the extraordinary community that emerged in Lützerath. People came together to fight for climate justice and the preservation of their habitat. They not only stood against the destruction caused by coal mining but also built a utopia: a hierarchical-free, sustainable, and self-determined way of life.

However, resistance came at a cost. The film documents the 20-month journey of building this community and the violent eviction by the coal mining giant RWE. It shows how the vision of a better life continues to live on and inspire, despite setbacks.

Following the screening, there will be a talk with Carmen Eckhardt.
