FACULTY OF HUMANITIES
The beginning of the anniversary year of 2022 saw the start of a comprehensive structural reform at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS). The PLUS now consists of six faculties. The Faculty of Humanities focuses on the study of culture.
The Faculty of Humanities at the PLUS comprises the seven departments of Classics; English and American Studies; German Language and Literature; Art, Music and Dance Studies; Linguistics; Romance Languages and Literatures; and Slavonic Studies.
At its core, the study of culture focuses on the diversity of cultural practices, languages and literatures and is highly relevant to understanding the global cultural heritage of humanity.

“The range of subjects extends from Archaeology and Ancient History to Art, Music and Dance Studies, from Classical Philology and Linguistics to German, English, Romance and Slavic Languages and Literatures. Our research uses modern methods of cultural, literary, media and linguistic studies, such as digital humanities,” explains Dean Prof. Dr. Matthias Heinz.
Students can choose from interdisciplinary combined studies, such as the degree programme Language – Business – Culture, in addition to subject-oriented programmes and the Teacher Training programme.
