Eduard-Reichenow-Medal goes to Wilhelm Foissner
Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Foissner has been awarded the Eduard-Reichenow-Medal for his extraordinary contributions to protistology at the 35th annual congress of the German Society for Protozoology (DGP; http://www.protozoologie.de/) in Saignelégier, Switzerland, from February 23rd to 26th 2016 (photo). At the same meeting, four posters were presented: (i) “Pulsed vs. continuous nutrient addition in a fragmented habitat: modeling anthropogenic stressors in a microbial metacommunity” by Josie Antonucci Di Carvalho (S. Wickham’s group); (ii) “Difficulties in assessing the global distribution of a model organism – the biogeography of Favella panamensis (Alveolata, Ciliophora)” by Maximilian Ganser (S. Agatha’s group); (iii) “The Rapunzel tintinnid – redescription of Tintinnopsis subacuta Jörgensen, 1899 (Alveolata, Ciliophora, Spirotricha)” of Alexandra Mühlthaler and Margit Kagerer (S. Agatha’s group); and (iv) “Do fixatives influence histochemical tests in tintinnid loricae (Alveolata, Ciliophora, Spirotricha, Tintinnina)?” of Laura Schicker (S. Agatha’s group).
