Brigitte Schels has been Professor of Empirical Social Structure Analysis at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at PLUS since October 2024. Previously, she worked as a senior researcher at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg. She was junior Pprofessor for Sociology of Labor Markets at University of Erlangen–Nuremberg (FAU) and guest professor of Social Structure Analysis and Quantitative Methods at the University of Vienna. Her research focuses on the (re-)production of social inequalities on the labor market and in the household. She is particularly interested in the transition from school to work, gender inequalities in the labor market, poverty and social exclusion.
