Call for Papers: Bridging Voices in Plurilingual Education: Policies, Research and Practices

International conference on ‘Building bridges towards plurilingual education. Policy, research and practice’

The European project PEP (Promoting Plurilingual Education, 2023-1-FR01-KA220-HED-000160820), in which the Language Centre of the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg is involved as a co-coordinating institution, and the Università degli Studi Roma Tre are organising this conference in Rome on 23-24 October 2025.

The conference aims to reflect on plurilingual educational practices, perceptions of plurilingualism and plurilingual education, and the role of plurilingualism in educational policies. Particular attention will be paid to the relationship between research, policies and practices.

The colloquium therefore intends to address educational policies as much as actual classroom practices and the training of (future) teaching staff. It is also interested in the theoretical issues and controversies surrounding the key concepts on which plurilingual education is based (language, plurilingualism/multilingualism, inter/transculturalism, translanguaging, etc.), the representations of those involved in this form of education, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of existing and emerging didactic approaches.

The project is co-financed by the European Union within the Erasmus+ programme.
