Buchpräsentation „Handbook on Caucasian Albania“

Public Book Presentation: Caucasian Albania

Professor Dr Jasmine Dum-Tragut (Paris-Lodron University Salzburg) and Jost Gippert (Universität Hamburg)

The first international handbook on a region in the southern Caucasus which in Antiquity was called „Albania“ (with no relation to the eponymous region in the Balkans), has appeared in the series „De Gruyter Reference“ (with open access). It was edited together with Jasmine Dum-Tragut (University of Salzburg) by Jost Gippert, senior professor at the CSMC, and is a first result of his fellowship (2020-2022) and the ERC project DeLiCaTe he is running at present. The handbook covers, among other topics, the written heritage of the Caucasian „Albanians“ which consists of palimpsest manuscripts preserved in St Catherine’s Monastery on Mt Sinai and a few inscriptions from present-day Azerbaijan.
