On the strategic interaction of AI advisors and human managers

The paper “Strategic Responses to Algorithmic Recommendations: Evidence from Hotel Pricing” by Daniel Garcia (U Vienna), Juha Tolvanen (U Tor Vergata Rome), and Alexander K. Wagner (PLUS) is now available in Management Science, a top journal for research in Business, Economics and Management. The paper theoretically and empirically studies the strategic interaction between an algorithmic AI advisor that recommends prices and a human manager who sets prices based on the algorithm’s price recommendations in the context of hotel room pricing.

Efficient Resource Management: Interreg project FOODIS

A new, innovative EU project in the area of the food value chain has been launched at the end of 2023 in the field of marketing at the Department of Business at Paris Lodron University Salzburg (PLUS). Alexander K. Wagner awarded OeNB Anniversary Fund

The Austrian National Bank (OeNB) supports the research project “Human-Algorithm Interactions in Economic Decision Making” of Alexander K. Wagner at the PLUS Department of Economics with an Anniversary Fund of about 250K Euros. This project aims to advance the understanding of some of the key changes that human-AI collaborations bring to economic decision making by investigating AI-supported human decision making in two important economic domains: pricing and demand planning.
