28./29.3.: Symposion „Multidiversity in environmental successions – interdisciplinary views on the emergence of ecological complexity“

The current biodiversity crisis demands a detailed understanding of the mechanisms underlying the maintenance and generation of diverse ecosystems. Environmental successions provide an excellent opportunity to track the concerted and interdependent increase in plant, animal, and microbial diversity and to detect ecological processes involved in the generation of multidiversity. Natural successions often are initiated and affected by geomorphological surface processes and knowledge about them allows a precise age determination of communities.
