Symposium on Integrating AI and Data Science into School Education Across Disciplines
From 24 – 28 February 2025, the International Symposium on Integrating AI and Data Science into School Education Across Disciplines (AIDEA) will take place at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Salzburg. Click here for the event website.
Concept of the symposium
AI technologies influence our daily lives and especially the lives of young people in almost all areas of life and are expected to do so even more in the future. AI education should therefore be discussed from various educational perspectives and implemented at an early stage. This also includes promoting an understanding of how AI systems work as well as their limitations, opportunities, risks and creative potential.
From an international perspective, the aim of the symposium is to create a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges of AI education in the context of school education and to discuss how students in particular can be equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to deal with AI as responsible citizens. The symposium will focus on the discussion of education about AI and data science and the development of mathematical, statistical and computer science skills associated with AI and data literacy. The pure use of AI tools in an educational context is not the focus of the symposium.
Scientific context of the symposium
The symposium is the result of collaboration between the three ongoing research and development projects ProDaBi (www.prodabi.de), CAMMP (www.cammp.online) and KI macht Schule (https://ki-macht-schule.de), which are focussing on AI and data science education. The purpose of the symposium is to network the projects with international experts and comparable initiatives and projects and to explore opportunities for future international cooperation.
